about the author

Welcome intrepid visitors to the inner workings of a twisted mind.

Dave spent his formative years in front of a screen watching B rated black and white horror movies on Saturday afternoons. This idyllic pastime was followed by a nightly dose of Edgar Allen Poe tales to usher in the land of dreams.

He believes in what is invisible to the naked eye and dwells in his imagination of what lurks just below the surface. In the realm where the mysterious dark nature of a world is obscured and imperceptible to the average person lives “the writing” of Dave Benneman.

When Dave is not traveling, he resides in northern reaches of the Sonoran Desert with his wife and two furry companions.

" I just finished Dave Benneman's latest book. I think it's his best yet. It's written for a young adult audience, but if you like the show "Stranger Things", or the original "Goonies" movie, then this should be on your shelf. "

Walter M. Myers

" This is a book that leaves you thinking. How would you have handled the death of a friend but at the end of high school? And it’s a roller coaster To read. Enjoy! "

The Death of Carol Ann McCarthy
Entertaining story with intersting characters
I enjoyed this book as I have all of Dave Benneman's books. The characters are interesting and the plot keeps you engaged. Having grown up in the time period when the story takes place (late 1960's) it brought back fond memories of what day-to-day life was like then, which I think younger people would find interesting too.
I also highly recommend Benneman's Another Christmas Story, which I plan to reread this holiday season.

Something’s Amiss
Horror, suspense and imagination
I really enjoyed the book Somethings Amiss. Short stories with a vivid imagination of characters. Each story has a different setting which moves the location. The book is great for a quick read and something to ponder on a relaxing weekend. Good job Dave.

Drowning in Darkness
Awesome read
If I could have rated this book 6 stars, I would have, I loved it! If you like scary (not the heart attack kind, but the nite lite kind) do yourself a favor and read this book. I hope there are many more books in this author's future.
